DLI

Chávez is proud to be part of the Dual Language Immersion program within MMSD!

In Dual Language Immersion (DLI), native Spanish speakers and native English speakers maintain and develop their first language while acquiring native-like communication and literacy skills in a second language. Academic content is taught and assessed in two languages from Kindergarten through 5th grade at Chávez, 6-8th grade at Jefferson Middle School and 9th – 12th grade at Memorial High School.

Chávez has a DLI Parent Advisory Board (DLI PAB), which is a group of DLI parents advocating for and supporting our DLI families and teachers. Our school is fortunate to be a part of the Dual Language Immersion program and also to have a strong group like the DLI PAB to help continue the program’s growth and success.  The DLI PAB has worked hard over the years to move the program forward and to foster the family-like atmosphere within DLI.  Each class has 1-2 representatives that keep in close contact with the parents, teachers, schools and the district. The DLI PAB typically meets quarterly and plans 1-2 events each year. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions and we will connect you with your class representative.
