As the end of 2022 approaches, we have solidified many events for 2023, including the Chávez Fun Fair! Check out our Events Page and mark your calendars – we hope to see you there!
The Chavez PTO is SO EXCITED to be back with you all for another school year at Chavez Elementary! We wanted to introduce you to what the PTO does!
The PTO (parent teacher organization) is a group of parent and teacher volunteers who work together to benefit the students and staff at Chavez Elementary.
The PTO is always busy! What do we do with our time and your generous donations? Here are just a few things our time and your donated funds were able to accomplish last year:
With your continued support, we hope to make this year another great one. Thanks everyone for being a part of the Chavez family!
We are so excited to start a new school year!
You can join our Facebook group to meet other Chávez parents and learn about upcoming events: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChavezPTO
We’re planning fun events this year, including a return of the Fun Fair, another fantastic Cheetah Chase, and the year-ending teacher dunking and Wisconsin Brewing Company! Coming up in October, we’ll be hosting our first ever outdoor movie night.
There are so many ways for you to connect to our school community – whether it’s helping out in the school garden, getting advice in our Facebook group, joining us at Pastries with the Principal or volunteering at an event.
Welcome!
This will definitely be as school year like no other! The Chávez PTO is working on plans to support our families, staff, and school.
If you have a student at Chávez, please join our Facebook group: Chávez Elementary Families. You can connect with other families and learn about upcoming events.
We host Chávez Chats (caregiver listening sessions on Zoom) to provide a space for families and caregivers to connect and talk with Chávez Staff and one another–this is not a presentation, but rather a drop in session for connection. They will not be recorded. Please see below for sessions and Zoom links.
There are no fees or forms to join the Chávez PTO. Every Chávez family is welcome at all PTO events.
We are a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization dedicated to the successful education of our students by enhancing communication between home and school; supporting and supplementing the needs of teachers and staff; helping to meet the expectations of and overcome any challenges for the students, teachers, families, and the entire Chávez community.
Our meetings are the first Tuesday of the month, following the Chavez Chat call. Chávez parents/guardians are always welcome.

Now through March 8, you can place your online bids for the Chávez auction! We have tons of great items this year, including Comedy Club passes, a diamond pendant, a tie dye party, and more! The proceeds stay right here to support the PTO. We use these funds for things like the Fall Dance, recognition for Safety Patrol, Chávez-wide activities, and teacher appreciation.
When: March 7, 10 AM – 2 PM
What: The Fun Fair features carnival games, face painting, food, and fun for the whole family!
Who: All Chávez families are welcome! Each student gets 5 free tickets.
How you can help:
March 7, 10 AM-2 PM: The Fun Fair features carnival games, face painting, food, and fun for the whole family! The Fun Fair volunteer sign up form is now available! Grab your favorite slots now. You are welcome to sign up with your scholar for most slots (a few areas, like the Prize booth are adults only). Most slots are 1 hour, which gives you plenty of time to volunteer and then hop back into the fair fun! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090944a9ab2da0f58-2020. We need about 30-40 volunteers each hour to keep the Fun Fair running. No experience is needed and everyone is welcome!
We are looking for items to make baskets (movie night, game night, slime kit, etc), gift cards, crafty items, etc. Can you teach a skill to kids or adults? Want to coordinate an experience for your scholars? Enter your donation here: Auction Donations. Deadline to submit items: February 19th
Have suggestions for school related auction items? We want to hear from you! Auction@chavezpto.org
Bring in 2 liter bottles of soda or juice. There is a table in the cafeteria for your bottles. We need as many as we can get for the 2-Liter Toss Game. The more bottles we have, the longer the game lasts! …And later this month bring cupcakes, cookies, or cereal for our cake and cereal walk!
We’re still looking for photographers to keep the photo booth fun rolling. Bring your own camera and then upload the pictures for families to enjoy. Contact president@chavezpto.org if you’re interested!
Help Chavez staff increase the diversity of books available to older readers! Staff have requested the books Later Gator and The Year of the Dog through the Chavez wish list to be used in reading groups for grades 3 through 5.
Both these books feature Asian main characters and deal with themes of cultural differences, creating a natural way to discuss these important topics with our kids.
You can donate toward the purchase of these books and other staff requests at chavezwishlist.cheddarup.com.
Feb. 27, 8:30 – 9 AM
Come enjoy a meet and greet with our school’s principal right after morning drop off! Once your learner gets to their classroom, come stop by for some coffee, treats, and good conversation. Non-school aged siblings, or PM 4K students, welcome.
Keep clipping and scanning your box tops and receipts. Each box top is worth 10 cents for our school. You can send your paper box tops to your child’s teacher and they’ll put the box tops in our drop box.
Join us Friday 1/31 from 5:30 to 7:30! It’ll be a night full of mathematical fun, amazing books, and yummy pizza! Help out by volunteering.
